“The District feels like a combination of
the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood and Bazaar del Mundo
in Old Town San Diego. Vendors of handcrafted furniture, art,
antiques, clothes, jewelry and accessories occupy imaginatively
converted warehouses next door to interior designers with big-city
clients – the kind who shop on Rodeo Drive. The prices here,
however, are more reasonable.”
“This area boasts an eclectic array of shops
and boutiques to be admired. Even the fire hydrants are fashionable.”
“The Cedros Design District is known for
its Artisan, ‘Left Bank’ personality and charm as
well as for the souce of trendy furnishings, accessories, art
and fashion.”
“Considering that Cedros Avenue is now the
site of the tres-hip Design District, it’s hard to imagine
it was once a dirt road that flooded and turned into a river where
local kids went rafting after rainstorms back in the 1920’s.
Building on its 20-year history as a cabinetmaking and woodworking
center, the District became a magnet for interior designers and
architects, followed by art galleries, custom-home furnishings
outlets, antiques and collectibles ‘malls’ and chic
clothing and jewelry shops. The Cedros Design District is the
place to shop ‘til you drop or just browse.”
